Things you’ll need:

  • Garden hose
  • Vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Nylon scouring pad
  • Clean rags
  • Baking soda

Trash cans made from stainless steel are a good choice because of their durability, corrosion resistance, and price. Invest a little time cleaning your dirty, foul-smelling stainless steel trash can if you have one. With regular maintenance, your trash can will last for many years and provide good service.

Step 1: Remove any obvious debris from the trash bin by rinsing it out with a garden hose.

Step 2: Fill the trash bin with two gallons of hot water and white vinegar, mixed equally.

Step 3: Pour about 10 squirts of liquid dish soap into the trash can.

Step 4: Soak the soapy mix in the bottom of the bin for about 15 to 30 minutes.

Step 5: Soak a rag in the mixture of soap and vinegar and use it to scrub the trash bin’s walls, both the inside and the outside.

Step 6: Rinse the trash bin out, then scrub the bottom of the inner container with one or more rags.

Step 7: Use a scrubbing pad to remove any stubborn debris or stains.

Step 8: Make sure to rinse off well and dry thoroughly using the garden hose.

Step 9: Once it has dried completely, sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of the can to absorb any lingering odors.
